Get involved with British Tomato Fortnight 2024!

We are excited for British Tomato Fortnight 2024, which is due to take place between 27 May and 9 June! We are looking for input and support from our grower members (and beyond!) to promote the humble and fantastic British tomato even more and make this years’ campaign our most successful yet.

Key messages

There are many wonderful things to share about our delicious, responsibly produced British tomatoes but we are focusing on a few key elements for this years’ campaign:

  • Health benefits of tomatoes.

There are many compelling nutritional and health benefits of eating British tomatoes as part of a balanced diet that everyone should know about! With a population that is becoming more and more health conscious and aware of where their food comes from, eating British tomatoes is a key part of that picture.

  • Versatility

British tomatoes are very high quality and delicious eaten raw all by themselves or in lovely salads, and are hugely versatile to cook with, whether made into a sauce, roasted, barbecued, air fried, stuffed… The list is endless and there are countless excellent recipes to share that showcase tomatoes, and that will inspire foodies around the country!

  • Sustainability and seasonality

British growers work hard and with great skill to produce tomatoes as efficiently and sustainably as possible, which is an incredibly story to tell. Supporting local, sustainable, seasonal produce is good for the environment and local economy - what is not to like?

How can you get involved?

  1. Keep an eye on our social media channels and reshare posts

We will be posting on our various channels in the build up and during the fortnight, and we will also have several influencers and chefs supporting the campaign this year. To help us out please like and reshare posts from personal and business accounts on LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok etc.

  2. Take pictures and videos of growing tomatoes and share these on your social media

Introduce yourselves and your business. What do you love about growing and eating tomatoes? What’s your favourite variety and why? What are you proud of regarding how you produce tomatoes? Any interesting tomato growing facts and figures?

  3. Use hashtags to increase awareness of content - #britishtomatofortnight and #tastytoms

We will tag all relevant content with #britishtomatofortnight, and recipes with #tastytoms, which will also form a part of a competition tbc!

  4. Put the BTGA team in touch with your communications/social media lead so we can collaborate with them on the campaign.

  5. Talk to your customers about the campaign and get them involved - with retailer support we can make the campaign better than ever.
