Farewell to Julie Woolley

After more than 20 years working for the BTGA, Julie Woolley took her well-earned retirement on 12th January 2024. Her enthusiasm and commitment to the BTGA over the years has been unmatched, and we can only hope that the new team continues her British tomato-championing legacy with the same degree of joy and finesse!

I am sure you’ll join us in wishing her a very long, happy and healthy retirement. May it be filled with plenty of red wine, gentle adventures and, of course, a British tomato or two!

She has put together a few words to share with members below:

 Dear Friends,

Well, the day has dawned which many people (including me) thought would never happen, time and tide wait for no man and although it has been a difficult decision, it is time for me to make the most of my autumn years while I am still relatively fit and healthy!

Those of you who witnessed my wonderful send off at the Tomato Conference are probably saying, crikey is she still here, but it takes some time to hand over 24 years of knowledge and experience most of which is in the very deep recesses of my brain!

I want to thank every one of you for your amazing support and friendship, many of you for the whole 24 years. I remember so well meeting a very young Phil Pearson and Phil Morley at my first ever technical committee meeting in 2000 and an even younger Paul Faulkner at my first ever tomato conference meeting, little did I know then how important my tomato family would become to me.

I hope our paths will cross again one day, and I know you are in great hands with Simon, Nat and Dr Phil. I wish the TGA and all it's wonderful members the very best for the future, may British tomatoes always rock you worlds 🍅🌏❤️.

A bientôt,

Julie 🙋🏼‍♀️
